Course
Description
 
Twenty to forth percent of project effort is rework and false starts. Peer reviews, as a control mechanism, can remove rework and shorten schedules.

Through a combination of workshop and lecture, participants learn the purpose, value and types of technical reviews, how to structure a review, select the review team, conduct the review and report the results.
 
Objectives
 
As a result of this course, participants will:
  • Understand the formal technical review process and some common variations on it
  • Know when and how to hold the appropriate kind of technical review
  • Understand the benefits and limitations of using reviews as a defect-catching mechanism
  • Know who to invite, how to develop the review report, and various roles played before, during and after the review
  • Have participated in a formal technical review, and learn the process, roles and group dynamics involved

Product managers, program managers, designers, developers, engineers, analysts, project leaders, testers, quality assurance -- anyone involved in producing documented work or improving its quality
